Where Do We Stand on Fundamental Questions of Life?
Where We Stand
It is important to understand that we must see all questions of Faith in two lights: the Spiritual and the Temporal.
Spiritually, we have no end as matter cannot be destroyed. So, many deep and important questions of the flesh have no real meaning in the light of eternity.
When viewed Temporally, they are matters of our society and what the consequences of the question mean to us. So, as you assess where we stand on these issues, please consider where you stand eternally and in the life you live now.
When does life in this body begin?
The most direct temporal answer to this question is found in many origin scriptures. “…and He breathed into Adam the breath of life and he became a living soul.” According to this, we start this life with the first breath we take on our own.
The spiritual answer is likewise simple. We live through many incarnations, with many bodies, as we travel the path of eternal life. This one is ours for a short time as we seek to take another step forward on the Path. We bind ourselves to this body at birth and take possession of it until our death.
How do we stand on women being in positions of clergy?
Spiritually and temporally, we see that all who walk in the light are on the same path, therefore there is no difference in authority to act within the light. Men and women equally serve where they are called.
What is our position on science as it relates to our religious beliefs?
Science, as it applies to the interaction that we have with the environment we live in, is in harmony with the path of light. The application of social sciences must be taken as any ideology. We believe there is truth and the evil that exists in the hearts of conspiring men. We seek the wisdom of our Guide to discern which is which.
How do we decide if someone needs to be disfellowshipped in the Church?
Spiritually, we believe that the actions that we take in this life will be evaluated by our Guide and Ourselves against the promises that we made before our birth concerning this life. We don’t believe in eternal condemnation.
So, the matter of being disfellowshipped is a social matter. We will consider all cases against the questions:
1: Is there a danger of harm to themselves, other members, or the community if they are allowed to remain with us?
2: How does the member’s actions affect our trust in one another?
3: How does the member's actions affect how the rest of the community sees us?
Who's in charge of where the money we all donate is spent?
Spiritually, we must have faith that the Watchmen are being guided to our good, because they are the ones who direct the general funds of the church to measure the growth of the church services, and where those services are needed.
More locally, there are service projects and ministries that individual members can support.
How much financial support does the church expect of me?
We are striving as a church to keep the administration expenses as low as possible. Our primary church location is our website, planning smaller, inexpensive venues for our in-person worship services. Also, all our clergy, including the directors of the church are not paid a salary.
All of this said, there are some expenses. We are asking all those who are not pledged as Watchmen to give 1% of their earnings, provided this is not an undue burden on their family. Beyond this, we have faith that your Guide will direct you to where and how you can serve those put in your way.
The Watchmen answer a different call. They commit all that they have and gain to the service of those put in the way of the church, eschewing the lure of Wealth. Likewise, the directors of the church (the President, 1st Counsellor, and Seer) do also take this vow. The Watchmen and Directors provide themselves only the most basic existence of communal living, so that they may serve.
Why should I join your church?
Well, spiritually, there is the matter of being uplifted, strengthened, and supported to give you greater strength in walking in the light. There is constant opposition, and alone, we are often overwhelmed by the sorrows of this world.
Temporally, it means you are not alone. You are surrounded by those that care about you and genuinely desire for your good. And the church wants to be there when you stumble, so that this world may never overtake you, while walking in the light.
Who is the Guide you speak of?
There have been more than 1,000 names given to the Gods of Light. Be they the same Deity or many, it matters not. The Paths they show only go to one place. Elohim, the Heaven of Heavens. Follow the One who calls you to the Path of Light.
